The Puppies Have arrived......8th DEC 2011.......

Savanah had her puppies at 9.15pm via C Section on the 8th Dec 2011, I took her to the vets because i was concerned that a puppy may be in the birth canal, yet she was having no contractions.

The ultrasound scan showed 9 live well puppies and the vets advice was to deliver them by c section whilst they were all alive and well just in case Savannah had any birthing complications.

It was a tough choice did i take her home and let nature take its course or have them safely delivered by c section?

After alot of thought and advice i decided to opt for the c section as the safety of both Savannah and her babies was my priority and had i of let her self whelp and if then she lost any i would never forgive myself!

The C Section went really well and i was amazed that the whole procedure from start to finish took around 30 mins! Within an hour and a half of arriving at the vets both my eldest daughter Lois, myself, Savannah and 9 scrumpots were home!

Alistair our vet and Donna the vet nurse were very professional and experienced in delivering the puppies. I also can't thank Yvonne (Kalkasi Pyreneans) for dropping everything and driving to the vets to assist in ensuring all the puppies were rubbed dry, cords cut and breathing well her help was much appreciated.

Savannah was very sleepy for the next 24 hrs and as you can imagine was a little shocked to wake up from surgery and see 8 puppies im sure she was thinking where on earth did they come from they are not mine! Thankfully Savannah's great temperament shone through and she has been nursing the puppies ever since we arrived home and proving to be a great mum. She isn't so keen on toileting the puppies though! So we have that nice job, thanks Savannah!
